In Abia State, South East Nigeria, security agencies today embarked on a show of force, ahead of the sit at home order by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB,for Friday this week.
Roll.. The security agencies moved from the Central Police Station Umuahia to major streets of Umuahia, in a convoy of security vehicles.
Addressing the press shortly after the exercise, the State Commissioner of Police, Anthony Ogbizi, said it was to reassure the residents of the readiness of the security agencies to ensure their safety.
The Commissioner stated that the exercise was to send a signal to miscreants and members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), which has been proscribed as a terrorist group, saying that the law will not spare them if they go ahead to disrupt the prevailing peace, which residents of the state are presently enjoying
The Independent People of Biafra, IPOB, had issued a sit at home order for the People of the South East, in remembrance of the military invasion of IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kalu ‘s resident in Umuahia.
