A presidential hopeful on the platform of the Oringo Peoples Party, OPP, Comrade Emmanuel Ogbeche, has dismissed the chances of President Muhammadu Buhari to win next year’s election.
Buhari on Monday informed the All Progressives Congress, APC, National Executive Council meeting that he will stand for re-election.
Ogbeche in reaction to the president’s declaration said while it was within the constitutional right of Buhari to seek re-election, he has failed on all fronts to warrant his being returned to office.
“I welcome the announcement by President Buhari that he will be standing for re-election. One thing, however, remains that Nigerians are now more discerning and will make the right choice next year.
“As a frontline presidential candidate, I am optimistic that 2019 will be the year that Nigerians will say, enough is enough, and send President Buhari and his party out of office,” Ogbeche said in a statement signed by his media aide, Mr. Teddy Nwanunobi.
According to the OPP candidate, Buhari has severely divided the country, has damaged the economy, elevated nepotism to an art of governance and shown lack of clarity in resolving the country’s security challenges and other matters.
“The president has demonstrated in unmistaken terms that he lacks capacity to deal with the myriads of issues facing the country. Today, Nigerians are more divided, nepotism is now accepted as a governmental norm, Nigerians are poorer and more fearful than at any time in our history as a country.
“Anybody that genuinely loves this country will ask President Buhari to take a deserved rest,” Ogbeche said in the statement.
