Wike to support Navy for effective security of Rivers waterways

Rivers  State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has stated  that  the  state government  will provide  equipment  and  logistics  support for  the  Nigerian  Navy  to enable  effectively  secure the state’s  waterways.

 

He spoke  when  the Chief of Naval  Staff,  Vice Admiral Ibok Ibas paid him a courtesy  call on Friday.

 

Governor  Wike  said  that  assistance  to  the Navy from  the  Rivers  State  Government  is  non negotiable  as his administration  is  committed  to  the security  of  lives and property.

 

He said: “This administration  will give  total support  to the Navy.  We want to secure  our  waterways  for development  to take place.

 

“Without  security,  no form of development  can take  place in the state. We shall  also help Naval  personnel  with accommodation “.

 

 

The governor noted that the  administration  has built  up  a synergy  amongst security  agencies  in  the  state  to fight insecurity.

 

 

In his remarks,  Chief  of Naval Staff,  Vice Admiral Ibok Ibas commended the  Rivers State Governor  for supporting  the  Navy.

 

 

He urged the  governor  to  further  support  the Navy in the  areas of equipment  and  logistics,  pointing  out  that  the  Navy has enough  personnel  to battle criminals.

 

The Chief  of Naval  Staff  noted that  a well  equipped  Navy will help create the right  environment  for investors  to thrive in  the  state.
