The hungry, mourning Benue Masses cannot, and should not be expected to go anywhere to welcome the President. Governor Ortom and his team should receive him at the airport. He may visit the Tor Tiv and 1 IDP camp as was announced and Thereafter, meet some selected stakeholder at government house to address them.
Calling for people to come out en masse to receive him smacks of insensitivity and gross ignorance. The President’s visit is not a state visit, and that is not the case here.
People should note that the President is coming on a condolence visit. Anything short of this would amount to a campaign rally and it should not be so.
