PDP denies defection rumours

Our attention has been drawn to the Headlines in the NATION newspaper of today which states that we have advised and directed our party members to defect to other political parties. The headline is to say the least misleading and a deliberate attempt to misrepresent our position and cause confusion among the rank and file of our party members. As any discerning reader of the newspaper would note , the headline is completely different from the body and content of the story.
This statement became necessary because of the confusion caused by the newspaper headline and the wild rumours and misrepresentation circulating in the media , especially the social media that we directed PDP members in Lagos to vote for APDA in the forthcoming local government elections.

There was no such directive from the National Caretaker Committee. Our statement was very clear and unambiguous which was to the effect that we are in court and have absolute faith and confidence in the judiciary to dispense justice without fear or favour . Also that we are aware that PDP is been disenfranchised in some elections and that different States have adopted different approaches to the issue without prejudice to the substantive matter before the court.
We state categorically that the National Caretaker Committee has never asked any one to defect to another Party. PDP is our party. Our members are enjoined to continue to demonstrate total commitment and loyalty to the party.
