The election into 15 vacant positions of the Kano State Executive Committee of the All Progressive Congress (APC) is ongoing at the Indoor Hall of the Sani Abacha Stadium.
The Kano APC recently came under crisis due to the purported sour relationship of the immediate past governor and a serving senator, Rabiu Kwankwaso, with the incumbent governor, Abdullahi Ganduje.
Channels Television gathered that the party’s present acting state chairman Abdullahi Abbas and 14 other candidates may likely be elected unopposed.
The National Congress Committee Chairman Prince Orizu says the elections followed the report by the state secretariat of the party which informed the need to fill in 15 vacant positions.
Prince Orizu, however, clarified that the Congress was nothing but a party affair that seeks to fill in 15 vacant positions.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the screening committee Mr Nadu Yahaya said his committee has screened 15 candidates into the vacant positions unopposed.
The event is being attended by Governor Ganduje, federal and state lawmakers, as well as party leaders while Senator Kwankwaso is said to be absent.
