Plateau State governor Jonah Jang has lifted the curfew imposed earlier on Jos North, Jos South, Riyom and Barkin Ladi local government council with immediate effect.
A statement yesterday signed by Commissioner for Information and Communication, Mr. Yiljap Abraham, said the curfew has been completely lifted following a careful review of the security situation in the stat and after due consultation with the state security council.
“By this action, government expects that citizens will use this period to work harder toward a safer and more peaceful Plateau. They should reciprocate this gesture by avoiding any action that will lead to a breakdown of law and order and cooperate fully with the security agencies.
“All citizens are enjoined to use this opportunity to pray fervently for the general well being of the state. A return to a no-curfew therefore calls for extra vigilance by every citizen. Government also wishes the Muslim Umma a happy Ramadan month,” Abraham added.
The curfew was imposed on Sunday, July 8, following a violent reaction with the death of the Majority Leader in the State House of Assembly, Hon. Gyang Fulani and Senator Gyang Dantong.
