Today, December, 12 is a special day in the life of Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, Governor of Rivers State. It is his birthday, and friends, relations and political associates are celebrating the man who means different things to different people.
To us at Notable Outcome, we see Governor Wike as a long distance runner and thinker. And these virtues stand him out, making him to be too far ahead of his political opponents.
Wike manifested these peculiar traits early in his political career. He became the chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Council against all odds in 1999. He went further to become the first chairman of Obio/Apkor council to be re-elected after a fierce political battle.
As Chief Of Staff, Government House under Governor Chibuike Amaechi between 2007 and 2011, and as Minister of State for Education in the immediate past administration of President Goodluck Jonathan, Chief Wike shun like the star that he was, and discharged his assignments creditably.
He was to subsequently move on to become Governor Of Rivers State in 2015, after the mother of all political battles with then incumbent Governor Chubuike Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State.
Although the aspiration was initially seen by many as one of those wild dreams, but Wike’s heart was willing and he found a way, and made it happen. He did not harzard with fear but was resolutely minded in fulfilling his aspiration.
Governor Nyesom Wike, a political scientist and lawyer has done so well for himself and for Rivers State in the close to three years that he has been governor of the treasure base of the nation. His signature projects across the state has earned him the nick name Mr. Projects, even as awards have been pouring in from home and abroad.
