The Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi has emerged as the maiden winner of the zonal debate series organised by the National Association of Agricultural Students (NAAS) held at the Zonal convention of the Association which took place in the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi on Friday, 10th May 2019.
The representatives of the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi outshined the University of Jos, Jos to emerge champions after what many described as a highly contested competition on the Topic: Advancement in Agriculture or Easy Access to loans, which is the game changer in Nigerian Agriculture.
Miss Magdalene Iorliam, a debater from the host University emerged as best speaker and was awarded as the “voice of NAAS, North Central Nigeria”. She will lead the delegation of the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi to represent the North Central Zone at Taraba State in August.
Zonal winners from the remain five (5) geo-political zones will lock horns with the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi to compete for the championship to represent Nigeria in China.
The Rt Comr. John Achoda led NAAS UAM Chapter in a statement with campus gist ‘paper congratulated the representatives for making the University proud and charged them to prepare even more to represent the zone and bring the Championship home.
Activities at the Zonal Convention continue with elections into 22 positions and will conclude with courtesy calls on key personalities within the Agricultural field in Benue state.
