As the dust over Baffa’s ouster settles, the reinstated Executive Secretary of Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFund, Prof Suleiman Bogoro, has pledged to properly manage the agency and make it a reference point for other institutions.
Bogoro, who spoke in Abuja while addressing staff of TETFund, said his re-instatement was unprecedented in Nigeria’s history, even as he thanked President Muhammdu Buhari for the job and assured staff of the agency of improved welfare.
A statement by the Director of Corporate Affairs in TETFund, Mr Ebikwo Benn, recalled that the Executive Secretary resumed to a thunderous welcome by the highly elated staff on Monday, 21st January 2019, following the removal of Dr. Abdullahi Bichi Baffa.
“I give God the glory for my unprecedented re-instatement in a way that never happened before. I don’t know how to thank the President for giving me a medal that no Nigerian has attained before and I pledge to do everything to manage the Fund’s affairs very well.
“I struggled with tears on Monday when I resumed and I am so proud of you all and may God bless you. I will never forget your style of welcoming me because it has vindicated me. Other organization will learn how to run and manage human beings with respect,” he said.
Bogoro was appointed the Executive Secretary of TETFund in 2014 by Former President Goodluck Jonathan but sacked and replaced by Baffa in 2016 without completing his tenure in office.
According to him, TETFund has contributed to restoring the glory of tertiary institutions in Nigeria through numerous interventions, in infrastructural development, academic staff training and development, journal and book development, among others.
While stating that his predecessors were instrumental to the innovative policies presently operating in the fund, he said there was no excuse for substandard TETFund projects, insisting that only the best quality infrastructures will be sponsored by the fund.
On staff welfare, the TETFund Boss said it was part of his six point agenda to uplift the welfare of staff intellectually, through capacity building as well as improved condition of service to give every member of staff a sense of belonging.
He said the fund was expanding its partnership internationally on capacity building of staff, with a view to equipping them to confidently face the challenges of their daily work schedules.
