The special adviser to Nasarawa State governor on political matters, Alhaji Zakari Idde, has observed that the current crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has not added any advantage to the fortunes of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He said that APC had already eclipsed the PDP even before the recent crisis bedevilling the ruling party.
Making this observation in Lafia while addressing newsmen, Alhaji Idde noted that the parties that merged to form APC are now stronger than the PDP.
Alhaji Idde who stressed that even as a united and formidable party the PDP does not stand a chance against the APC, said it was rather to the advantage of the aggrieved members of the PDP to join the APC.
He said, “The greatest huddle the APC had was how to bring together true leaders who are ready to sacrifice their personal ambitions for the sake of salvaging Nigeria from its current quagmire and how to get the party registered”. With its eventual registration he said the APC was a mass movement which had the Nigerian public as the centrepiece.
He however cautioned that the followership the APC is enjoying should not be taken for granted but must be seen as a public trust which must not be betrayed. He added that in conducting its affairs the APC would be conscious of geographical spread in the spirit of federal character but it would in no way contemplate imposition of candidates or any such undemocratic practices obtainable in other political parties which Nigerians are revolting against.
